Tales Of Drunk Men
Tales Of Drunk Men
Drunk men are some of the most interesting and entertaining persons to socialize with because of their sweet stories of around the pot politics. it's called "mbozi za malwa". A one Majani was telling me how he enjoys booze without pay."I usually pay consecutively for the first three days" he said, after this I drink on credit for five days promising to pay tomorrow and when there's increase in pressure to pay , creativity comes in. I either change location or use other means to continue boozing, he says this jovially.
So what other means do you use?, I ask. “I usually tell her I will send it on mobile money hahaha’’ he continued ,there's this one called Naomie who proved to be too tough and I ended up doing the obvious, luckily her phone had a problem with mobile money and she told me to send money to her home phone which she usually leaves for the teenage daughter, the girl takes care of her small siblings, so when Naomie wants to check on them, she calls on it”,he goes on so happily. So I formulate a fake mobile money message and send it to the home phone which has active mobile money services and on reaching Naomie's drinking joint, she calls my name thrice and swears in the name of her ancestors
“If I give Majani ‘busela’’ today, may my ancestors send thunder and lightning to strike me down" Naomie swore strongly.I laughed and reminded her that she's swearing by thunder and lightning during the dry season, she laughed as well’’. All this time, I am listening keenly not to miss a word.
I told her I have sent the money to her home phone and a glimmer of hope and brightness began showing on her face. I have sent thirty thousand plus the one for today and tomorrow. She says she will call her daughter to confirm if the money has reached and immediately did so .
I was praying silently that she doesn't ask the daughter to check the mobile money balance but then I knew the daughter was also ignorant about the Momo transactions.
I was already sipping one ‘binika’ when she told me the daughter said she got the message, so I took malwa but on tenterhooks .I took 3 kettles that day because I knew it was the last time I was being seen at Naomie's drinking joint.
I bought Majani one more glass of ‘tonto’ waragi" then he kept pouring me more stories of how he has managed to keep evading payments when it comes to transportation and booze.
To be continued……
